Bus driver among 2 arrested over Dhaka-Mawa Expressway crash
Rapid Action Battalion arrested two persons, including the driver of the bus that rammed into three other vehicles at the toll plaza of Dhaka-Mawa Expressway yesterday, leaving six people dead.
The driver, Nuruddin, was arrested from Narayanganj's Siddhirganj last night, according to the Rab media wing.
However, AKM Aktharuzzaman Bosunia, superintendent of Gazipur highway police, confirmed the arrests to The Daily Star.
The SP said, "There were two staffers in the bus. We have come to know that the driver, Nurunnabi, was driving the bus. Two people have been arrested in a raid by the highway police and RAB.
"Details will be revealed after verification," he added.
Stating that no case has been filed yet, he said, "This time, a case will be filed not only against the bus driver, but also against all those involved in the crash."
Around 11:15am yesterday, six people of two families were killed when the bus hit three vehicles -- a private car, motorcycle and microbus -- parked at the toll plaza in South Keraniganj.
The bus was seized after the accident, but the staffers managed to escape.
